The End FGM Canada Network is proud to introduce "Miss Klitty," a sassy, no non-sense clitoris that speaks the truth about female reproductive anatomy and FGM/C!

Miss Klitty is our global goodwill ambassador and education prevention tool. She is here to normalize discussion of all parts of the female body and remove the shame and stigma associated with female anatomy once and for all. She is a cheeky and playful cartoon character based on the actual clitoris.  In most communities affected by female genital mutilation/cutting, the clitoris is feared and hated. It's considered dirty.  Talking about it is taboo. And most forms of FGM/C involve harming the clitoris in some way.   Portraying the clitoris in a playful cartoon helps to spark conversation, breaking down barriers around the sensitivities of this topic to allow for open discussion.

Miss Klitty's mission:  to help spark the conversation and bring this much maligned sexual organ out of the closet. Her goal:  to change hearts and minds, demystify the clitoris, and remove the shame and stigma often associated with it.  Miss Klitty was developed with a global youth advisory committee from affected communities. She wants to have her voice heard: the clitoris is beautiful and must be loved and treasured!

“A woman's body should not undergo any ritual that abuses her fundamental human right.

That's why it's important to join the #MissKlitty campaign to normalize conversations about the clitoris and empower women to take back control of their bodies.”

- Lola Ibrahim, Nigeria

“Until we can talk openly about the clitoris, we can't talk about saving it.”

- Maryan Abdikadir, FGM/C survivor, St. John's, Newfoundland
